Have Your Say in Making The Ponds an Even Better Place
A new project is currently being undertaken looking at how the neighbourhoods and parklands can work together to deliver a sense of place an attract people through a variety of activity options.
Place Partners have been commissioned by Landcom to develop a Place Making Masterplan for the open spaces within The Ponds. Part of this exercise is to conduct a survey to encourage input from community members and stakeholders regarding the use and design of these spaces. With 80 hectares of open space, The Ponds are endowed with many natural assets, offering potential for a range of leisure activities. The magnificent Second Ponds Creek Parklands is a place to picnic, bushwalk or simply explore. Thoughtfully planned parks, ovals and green spaces, cycleways and walkways provide ample opportunity for exercise and sporting activities.
Place Partners objectives are:
- To assess the current and planned open space in terms of its identity, uses and users
- To engage with the local community regarding their needs and aspirations for recreational use
- To develop an Place Making masterplan that delivers place identities, target audiences, facilities, amenities and activity plans for The Ponds parklands and neighbourhood open spaces
Local residents, stakeholders and members of community groups are invited to participate in this process to generate ideas on the sort of activities and facilities that should be provided at the open spaces within The Ponds to complement the planned development. We would like to find out your experience of the open space, how you use it and what you would like to see in the future.
This engagement will include the following options for residents to contribute their ideas and aspirations for the future of The Ponds:
- Face to face surveys in the open spaces (16-19 July)
- An online survey (9-21 July)
- A delivered survey to your home (13-19 July)
- A Coffee Club focus group (21 July at The Coffee Club, Rouse Hill Town Centre, 10 am)
Place Partners will be spending considerable time in The Ponds over the next few weeks and will be interviewing people as they use the open spaces. Please feel free to speak to the consultants and let them know what you think.
Click here to take part in the online survey. We appreciate your time in completing this survey - it should only take about 5 minutes.
Thank you for your participation in this exciting opportunity for The Ponds and we look forward to hearing from you.
